In February, the web server that hosts MacDesktops.net and our other internet communities fell victim to a major hardware failure. Our RAID controller, which manages the distribution of files across four hard drives to ensure MacDesktops.net data is stored redundantly and therefore safely, failed. This appears to have damaged all four of the hard drives, rendering all files and databases stored on the server inaccessible.

Thanks to the generosity of our communities, we were able to undertake an expensive data recovery process that resulted in the full recovery of all of our sites. However, restoring the recovered data is taking significantly longer than we expected.
